Cold case search renewed for Germantown woman missing for a decade

Gaithersburg, MD – Ten years after a Germantown woman vanished from her home without a trace, detectives are again turning to the public in hopes of uncovering new information that could finally explain what happened.

Nancy Eillen Strohmeyer was reported missing in February after she was last heard from during an evening phone call with a family member. Investigators say she had contact with family around 7 p.m. on February 3 and was reported missing the following day when she could not be located.

Strohmeyer, who was 66 at the time, lived in the 13100 block of Millhaven Place in Germantown. Detectives noted that her bed appeared not to have been slept in and her morning medication had not been taken, leading investigators to believe she may have left her home during the evening hours.

Police and family members remain concerned for her safety due to medical issues. At the time of her disappearance, Strohmeyer was living with Alzheimer’s or dementia and left without her required medication.

She is described as a White female standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds. When last seen, she had shoulder-length blonde hair and may have been wearing a tan coat over a turquoise sweatshirt. Detectives have created an age-progressed image showing how she may appear today.

Cold Case detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police continue to investigate her disappearance and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information regarding Nancy Eillen Strohmeyer is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police Department Cold Case Unit at 240-773-5070.
