Officers find crack in car after routine Cambridge stop
Cambridge, MD — A simple stop sign violation led to a drug arrest Monday morning after a Cambridge man was pulled over and officers allegedly discovered crack cocaine and paraphernalia inside his vehicle.
Just after 10 a.m. on Moores Avenue at Robbins Street, Cambridge Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had failed to stop properly at High Street and Washington Street. The driver was identified as 35-year-old Chavonne Anthony Corbin-Stanley of Cambridge.
While speaking with Corbin-Stanley, officers reported spotting suspected drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered a quantity of crack cocaine along with additional related items.
Corbin-Stanley was also found to be operating the vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
He was placed under arrest at the scene and later released on his personal recognizance. He now faces several charges including:
- CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotic
- CDS Possession Not Cannabis
- CDS Possession Paraphernalia
- Failure to Display License
- Driving Without a License
- Failure to Stop at Stop Line
No other individuals were reported to be in the vehicle at the time of the arrest. The drugs and paraphernalia were collected as evidence.
Police have not released the estimated street value of the narcotics seized. The case remains under investigation.
