May 25, 2026

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A Cumberland man already under police scrutiny during an arrest warrant investigation now faces multiple burglary and theft charges after officers say a homeowner reported his residence had just been broken into.

Cumberland Police arrested 34-year-old Dustin Wayne Youngblood on Sunday after officers encountered him on Furnace Street around 12:55 p.m. while attempting to serve an unrelated arrest warrant, according to a department press release issued Monday.

During that encounter, police said an alleged victim contacted officers and reported that Youngblood had burglarized a residence on Pulaski Street moments earlier. Investigators then launched a follow-up investigation that led to Youngblood’s arrest.

Police transported Youngblood to Central Booking, where a District Court commissioner later ordered him held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $7,500 bond.

The Cumberland Police Department said officers were speaking with Youngblood and another individual when the alleged victim came forward with the burglary accusation.

Authorities did not specify what property was allegedly stolen from the Pulaski Street residence or whether investigators recovered any items connected to the case.

Youngblood now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including:

  • First-degree burglary
  • Third-degree burglary
  • Fourth-degree burglary
  • Theft
  • Theft from $1,500 to under $25,000
