Fort Washington Woman Killed After Car Slams Utility Pole in Prince George’s County

SUITLAND, Md. — A 54-year-old Fort Washington woman died early Saturday when the vehicle she was riding in crashed into a utility pole along Suitland Road in Prince George’s County, police said.

Prince George’s County Police identified the victim as Marcia McNair. Officers responded around 3 a.m. Saturday to the area of Suitland Road and Allentown Road, where they found McNair suffering from traumatic injuries inside the wrecked vehicle.

McNair was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department. The driver, an adult woman, survived and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Crash Investigation Focuses on Cause

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation into the single-vehicle crash.

Preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Suitland Road approaching Allentown Road when, for reasons investigators have not yet determined, the driver lost control and struck a utility pole.

Police have not released details about weather, speed or possible contributing factors connected to the collision.
