A 63-year-old Cumberland woman was jailed after police said she assaulted a victim and resisted officers while attempting to re-enter a residence.

Cumberland, MD – A Cumberland Police Department response to a reported assault on Hill Street Friday ended with the arrest of a 63-year-old woman who is accused of assaulting a resident and resisting officers.

According to police, officers were dispatched Friday to a home in the 400 block of Hill Street after receiving a report of an assault. When they arrived, officers found the victim suffering from a bleeding nose.

Arrest followed alleged struggle

Investigators identified the suspect as 63-year-old Sharie Teresa Dow of Cumberland, who was ordered not to return to the residence.

Police said Dow attempted to walk back into the home despite the order. After what authorities described as a brief struggle with officers, she was taken into custody.

Held pending court appearance

Dow was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center, where she is being held pending her initial appearance before a district court commissioner.

She has been charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing and hindering. The charges are allegations, and Dow is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
