D.C. Police Sergeant Arrested After Brandishing Gun, Crowbar in Unhinged Road Rage Incident

Annapolis, MD – A Metropolitan Police Department sergeant has been arrested and placed on administrative leave after allegedly brandishing both a crowbar and a firearm during a road-rage incident along U.S. Route 50, authorities said.

Maryland State Police identified the officer as 29-year-old Kaila Crews of Annapolis. She was taken into custody near her home on December 31 in connection with the December 18 confrontation that occurred on westbound Route 50 near Interstate 97.

Investigators said Crews allegedly displayed a crowbar and then a handgun during an altercation with another driver. Following her arrest, police executed a search warrant on her vehicle and recovered a loaded firearm.

Crews faces multiple charges related to the incident and has been placed on administrative leave pending both criminal proceedings and an internal investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Officials said no injuries were reported during the encounter.
