WASHINGTON, D.C. — Three juveniles were arrested Tuesday morning after a carjacking in Southeast D.C. ended with a swift recovery of the stolen vehicle and the detention of the suspects.
The incident unfolded at around 7:23 a.m. in the 1500 block of Butler Street SE. The victim told responding officers they were confronted by three juveniles who physically pulled them out of their vehicle, took the key fob, and drove off in the car.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District canvassed the surrounding area and quickly located the stolen vehicle. All three suspects were apprehended shortly after.
The individuals arrested include a 15-year-old male from Southeast D.C., and two others — a 16-year-old male and another 15-year-old male — both listed as having no fixed address. Each was charged with Unarmed Carjacking.
Carjacking case adds to rising concerns over juvenile crime
The investigation remains ongoing as police continue to review the circumstances surrounding the case. No injuries were reported.
