ST. LEONARD, Md. — A Calvert County woman’s longtime lucky number delivered a windfall after she purchased a $10 Lucky 7s Multiplier scratch-off and uncovered a $77,777 top prize.
The Southern Maryland resident, a restaurant worker, claimed her prize on Wednesday after scratching the winning ticket at home weeks earlier. She purchased the ticket at Mom & Pop’s Store in St. Leonard while out running errands. She said she picked it “because seven has always been my favorite number.”
The woman told Lottery officials she initially thought the ticket had a misprint when she saw the full prize amount. After scanning it with the official Lottery app, she realized the win was legitimate and called for her family. Her husband and daughter rushed in, initially fearing something was wrong, before learning about the win.
The family plans to use the prize to fund a long-desired vacation with their extended family — a trip they said they could never afford to organize before now.
Ticket marks first top prize for new scratch-off game
The Lucky 7s Multiplier scratch-off launched last month and this ticket is the first to claim one of its ten top prizes. Nine $77,777 tickets remain unclaimed, along with 23 $10,000 winners and hundreds of thousands of smaller prizes between $10 and $1,000.
Mom & Pop’s Store, located at 3500 Williams Wharf Road, received a $777.77 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the top-prize ticket.
