Maryland man’s lucky numbers ride to big lottery payday

OCEAN CITY, Md. — A loyal Racetrax player finally cashed in on his longtime strategy, winning $30,946 after his go-to horses came through on a 20-draw ticket purchased at a local bar.

The Ocean City resident has played the Maryland Lottery’s virtual horse racing game since its launch in 2006. For years, he’s consistently bet on horses 10, 11, and 12 — a trifecta that finally paid off.

The win came during the third race on his ticket, which he purchased at the Cork Bar on Wicomico Street. He was watching the results live when he realized the 11 horse came in first, followed by 10 and 12. Because he boxed the trifecta, the order didn’t matter, allowing him to collect the full prize.

The man, who owns a business in Ocean City, said he plans to put the winnings directly into savings.

Cork Bar receives bonus for selling winning ticket

The Cork Bar, located at 3 Wicomico Street, will receive a $309.46 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning Racetrax ticket.
