WASHINGTON, DC – A search is underway in Columbia Heights after a man was stabbed early Thursday morning, prompting a police alert and an ongoing investigation by DC’s Third District.

The stabbing occurred around 1:00 a.m. in the 1400 block of Irving Street NW. Responding officers confirmed a male victim was injured, though details on the extent of his injuries have not yet been released.

The suspect, described as a Hispanic male standing approximately 5 feet 1 inch tall, was last seen wearing a black shirt and gray pants. He remains at large as of Thursday morning.

Police are urging the public not to approach the suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately.

The area of Irving Street NW, located in the heart of Columbia Heights, was briefly canvassed overnight as officers continued the search for the attacker.
