The incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. last Friday, when First District officers responded to a report of a person with a weapon in the 1100 block of 1st Street NW. Responding units learned that a suspect had brandished a firearm, shot at the victim, and then left the area on foot.

Officers quickly circulated a lookout and began canvassing the area. Not long after the shooting, a man matching the suspect description was seen nearby. The man arrested has been identified as Thurman Williams, 55, of Northeast, DC. He has been charged with Assault With A Dangerous Weapon, Carrying A Pistol Without A License, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
