Toms River man jailed pending trial in fatal crash that killed 76 year old

Toms River, NJ – A deadly January crash on a Toms River roadway has now landed a local man behind bars as a judge ordered he remain jailed while facing serious charges tied to the death of a 76-year-old resident.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that on Wednesday, a Superior Court judge ordered that Jamie Doyle, 40, of Toms River, be detained in the Ocean County Jail pending trial. Doyle faces charges of aggravated manslaughter, vehicular homicide, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license while involved in a crash causing death.

The charges stem from a motor vehicle crash that occurred on January 23 in Toms River. Prosecutors said the crash resulted in the death of Ronald Bucher, 76, also of Toms River.

The detention decision was issued by the Honorable Wendel E. Daniels, J.S.C., who is retired and temporarily assigned on recall. The detention hearing was handled by Senior Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Burke.

Authorities emphasized that the charges are accusations only and that Doyle is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
