Dutchess County trust snags $5M prize on scratch-off ticket bought at beer store
PAWLING, NY — A trust based in Dutchess County hit it big with a $5 million win from a scratch-off ticket purchased at a local beverage shop, locking in one of the top prizes on the New York Lottery’s Bonus 100X game.
The Bluestone Living Trust of Pawling claimed the prize this week and chose to receive the winnings as an annuity, which will pay out $250,000 annually over 20 years. After required withholdings, that comes out to $162,756 per year.
The winning ticket was sold at Pawling Beer & Soda on Route 22. The retailer did not receive a separate prize bonus for the sale, as per New York Lottery’s policy for scratch-off wins.
There are still two $5 million top prizes left in circulation for the Bonus 100X game, according to the Lottery’s current Game Report.
During the most recent fiscal year, New York Lottery scratch-off tickets generated over $4.3 billion in sales statewide. Dutchess County schools received more than $54 million in aid from Lottery proceeds during that same period.
The New York Lottery remains the most profitable in North America, contributing billions annually to support public education across the state.
