Gaithersburg organizer accused of stealing from clients homes

GAITHERSBURG, MD – A Gaithersburg man hired to organize homes is now accused of stealing jewelry, clothing, cash and gift cards from a client in Bethesda, and police believe there may be additional victims.

Aissa Mahdi Ould Brahim, 27, was arrested following an investigation into a reported theft that occurred January 22 in the 5000 block of Del Ray Avenue in Bethesda.

According to investigators, Brahim had been hired to provide professional organizing services, which included folding and putting away clothing. At approximately 3 p.m., the homeowner left briefly to pick up her child. When she returned, Brahim left shortly afterward.

The victim later discovered a gold necklace missing and reported the theft to officers at the Montgomery County Police 2nd District Station.

During the investigation, officers identified Brahim as the suspect and learned the necklace had been sold through Facebook Marketplace. After being notified that the item was stolen, the buyer returned it to the victim.

Police said additional items were also taken from the home that day, including clothing, gift cards and cash.

An arrest warrant was obtained charging Brahim with one count of theft between $25,000 and under $100,000. Detectives also executed a search warrant at his residence and recovered items described as evidentiary.

Brahim was arrested February 4 and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He was later released on a $7,500 unsecured personal bond.

Investigators are asking anyone who believes they may have been a victim to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County.
