Utica man charged after allegedly mowing down child’s father in family dispute
Utica, NY – A 61-year-old man is facing felony charges after allegedly using his vehicle to chase down and hit the father of his family member’s child during a heated altercation near the intersection of Rutger Street and Albany Street on Thursday night.
Around 10:00 p.m., Utica Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they found the male victim injured and claiming he had been intentionally hit during a family dispute that escalated to violence.
The victim told police that a verbal argument with the mother of his child turned into a confrontation after her family arrived at the scene. As tensions escalated, the victim said he was threatened and began to flee on foot. While running, he was struck in the back twice by a truck allegedly driven by 61-year-old Kevin Clark of Utica.
Multiple individuals were detained at the scene, and the victim was transported to Wynn Hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released.
Following an initial investigation and the collection of additional evidence, police arrested Clark and charged him with Attempted Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. Authorities confirmed the “weapon” in question was the vehicle used in the incident.
Clark is currently being held pending arraignment. Police have not ruled out additional charges as the investigation continues.
