A family errand turned violent when a 29-year-old man allegedly attacked his grandmother inside a West Palm Beach home after being asked to help carry in groceries.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A Mother’s Day trip to the grocery store ended in a violent stabbing when Keo Nottage Jr., 29, allegedly attacked his grandmother inside their home after a dispute over helping bring in groceries, according to an arrest affidavit.

The incident unfolded when a cousin asked Nottage to assist with carrying grocery bags into the residence. According to court documents, the request triggered an escalating argument that ended with Nottage allegedly grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing his grandmother multiple times.

“You stabbed my f—ing grandma!” the cousin shouted, according to the affidavit, after witnessing the attack.

Family dispute escalates into violence

Investigators said the cousin and the grandmother had gone shopping for items for a Mother’s Day dinner before returning home. Once inside, the cousin asked Nottage, who was lying on the couch, to help bring in the groceries.

“When they got home, [the cousin] asked [Nottage], who was lying on the couch in the living room, to help bring in the groceries,” the affidavit states.

The request led to a verbal altercation, with the cousin becoming frustrated, telling police he felt he was “the only person helping around the residence.” The cousin then went outside to call a family friend in an attempt to calm the situation.

While outside, the situation turned violent inside the home.

“While [the cousin] was outside on the phone, he heard someone scream for help,” the affidavit says.

The cousin reentered the home through the rear door and told investigators he saw Nottage holding a knife, with his grandmother on the floor.

“[The cousin] walked into the residence through the rear door and observed Keo Nottage holding a knife,” the affidavit states.

Chase and arrest at scene

After witnessing the stabbing, the cousin fled the home, telling police he feared for his life. He jumped a fence and contacted authorities while Nottage allegedly chased him outside.

According to the affidavit, Nottage shouted, “Do you want to fade? What the f— are you going to do?” while pursuing the cousin and waving the knife.

Police responded to the scene and arrested Nottage. He was charged with attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

The grandmother was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where she underwent surgery and was reported to be in critical condition.

Nottage remains in custody without bond and is scheduled to return to court on June 9.
