Madison couple claims $1 million Virginia Lottery New Year’s Raffle prize

Madison, VA — A Virginia couple kicked off the new year with a life-changing surprise after learning they were holding one of the five $1 million winning tickets in the Virginia Lottery’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle.

The lucky ticket, #300593, was purchased at the Food Lion located at 46 Madison Plaza Drive in Madison. Under Virginia law, winners of prizes of $1 million or more may choose to remain anonymous, and the couple has opted not to publicly reveal their identities.

Their ticket was one of five drawn for the top prize during the annual New Year’s Day raffle. The other $1 million winning tickets were sold in Alexandria, Bealeton, Burke, and Hopewell.

Seven additional tickets won $100,000 each and were purchased in Hampton, Leesburg, Manassas, Montvale, Richmond, Stafford, and Winchester. Another 1,000 tickets earned $500 prizes.
