Powerball ticket worth $2M claimed just before deadline

$2 million Powerball prize claimed by Ohio trust months after drawing

Akron, OH — Nearly five months after the winning numbers were drawn, the $2 million Powerball prize from the August 27, 2025, drawing has officially been claimed in Ohio — not by an individual, but by a trust.

The Blessed Family Trust, represented by trustee Andrew J. Pfeifer, Esq., came forward this week to claim the prize from the winning ticket sold at Circle K #5702 at 3520 S. Arlington Road in Akron. The ticket matched all five white balls — 9, 12, 22, 41, and 61 — and included the Power Play option, which doubled the standard $1 million Match 5 prize to $2 million thanks to the 4X multiplier.

Under Ohio Lottery rules, winners have 180 days to claim prizes. The trust filed the claim just in time. After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 26.75%, the trust will receive a lump-sum payment of $1,465,000.

The odds of winning the Match 5 prize with Power Play are 1 in 11,688,053.52.

Two other $2 million winners from the same drawing came from Mississippi and Virginia. Three additional tickets that matched five white balls — but without Power Play — were sold in Arizona, New York, and Virginia. No player won the $861 million jackpot on that date.

Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night.
