Former Jackson Councilman Appointed to Murphy Handgun Regulation Commission

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ  – PBA Lobbyist and Governor Phil Murphy Appointee Rob Nixon, a former Jackson Township Councilman who resigned his office while being investigated by the Department of Justice has been appointed to Governor Phil Murphy’s new gun grab commission. Nixon also serves as chairman of the embattled School Development Authority where millions of dollars in public jobs were given to the former CEO’s political friends and allies. Nixon served as chairman during that time.

Nixon served on the Jackson Township Council when he, Barry Calogero (a Trump USDA appointee), Mayor Michael Reina, and the township was sued by the Department of Justice for violating the civil rights of residents in that town.

Today, Governor Phil Murphy today announced the appointment of Nixon, to the Personalized Handgun Authorization Commission. The Commission is responsible for establishing performance standards for personalized handguns and for approving and maintaining a roster of personalized handguns authorized for sale to the public.

“Personalized handgun technology has the potential to save lives and prevent needless lives from being lost to accidents or gun violence,” said Governor Murphy. “Jennifer, Robert, Nico, and Timmy are leaders in their fields and I am honored to appoint them to the Personalized Handgun Authorization Commission.”

Criminals aren’t likely to follow whatever new gun legislation Murphy the commission concoct.

Robert Nixon is the Founder and President of State House Strategies, a government affairs firm based in Trenton. He is also Director of Government Affairs for the New Jersey State Policeman’s Benevolent Association (NJSPBA). Mr. Nixon has been working in state government since 1993 as a political consultant and aide to elected officials. He also serves on the Board of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority, where he is Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors. Additionally, Mr. Nixon currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches a course focusing on governmental relations. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Josephs University and his Master of Governmental Administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
