Police say surveillance footage and follow-up investigation led to arrest of man accused in violent ATM theft
FREDERICK, Md. — A robbery suspect accused of ambushing a woman at an ATM and stealing cash was arrested weeks after the incident following a surveillance-led investigation, according to the Frederick Police Department.
Authorities said the robbery occurred on May 13, 2025, in the 1300 block of W. Seventh Street, where a woman was withdrawing money when she was approached by a suspect who demanded cash and forcibly took money before fleeing the area.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the area, collected additional evidence, and conducted follow-up inquiries that ultimately led to the identification of Arnold Franklin Moyd Jr., 44, as the suspect in the case.
Police said Moyd was located and arrested on May 25 by Frederick Police Department officers in connection with the robbery.
Officials credited both patrol officers and investigators for piecing together evidence that led to the arrest, noting the case was resolved through sustained investigative work following the initial report.
No additional information about the victim’s condition or the amount of money taken was immediately released.
