Garage break in turns violent as suspect slashes man who tried to stop him
Columbus, OH – A morning confrontation inside a downtown parking garage escalated into violence when a man attempting to stop a car break-in was slashed in the face by a suspect who then fled the scene.
The incident occurred April 22 at approximately 9:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Liberty Street, according to the Columbus Division of Police.
Investigators said the victim encountered a man breaking into a vehicle inside the garage. When the victim attempted to intervene, the suspect produced a knife and cut him in the face before escaping.
The victim’s condition has not been released, and no arrests have been made.
Police described the suspect as a white male believed to be between 25 and 35 years old.
Detectives with the Columbus Police Robbery Unit are actively working to identify the individual and are asking for the public’s assistance.
