Police release surveillance video as detectives hunt suspect tied to Edgewood street shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Detectives are searching for a gunman caught on surveillance cameras after a daytime shooting in Northeast Washington left a man wounded, police said Friday.

The shooting happened around 2:26 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Edgewood Street Northeast, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Fifth District officers responded to reports of gunfire and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived.

DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the victim’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

Investigators released surveillance photos and video showing the suspect connected to the shooting as detectives continue working to identify him.

Police have not released a motive or additional suspect information.

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the shooting to contact investigators at (202) 727-9099 or submit anonymous tips to the department’s text tip line at 50411.

Authorities said a reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
