Jackson Township EMS and RWJ-Barnabas Paramedics Reunite with Cardiac Arrest Survivor

Jackson Township, NJ – Jackson Township EMS (JTEMS) and RWJ-Barnabas paramedics recently reunited with Robert, a patient they successfully resuscitated from cardiac arrest in early May 2023. The meeting took place in May 2024, marking a year since the life-saving event.

In May 2023, JTEMS responded to a call about a cardiac arrest with CPR in progress. Jackson Police Department (JPD) officers and RWJ-Barnabas paramedics were also dispatched. JPD officers arrived first, continuing CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator. JTEMS units arrived shortly after, finding the patient with a pulse, breathing, and regaining consciousness.

JTEMS EMTs and RWJ-Barnabas paramedics stabilized the patient and transported him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for definitive care. The swift and coordinated response was crucial in saving Robert’s life.

One year later, Robert and his family invited the first responders to thank them in person. The reunion allowed Robert to share his perspective as a survivor and express his gratitude. Jackson Township EMS expressed their honor in meeting Robert again and appreciated his outreach.

This incident underscores the importance of CPR training and quick intervention in cardiac emergencies. High-quality CPR played a vital role in this positive outcome. JTEMS encourages the public to participate in CPR training, available regularly in most areas. Contact JTEMS for more information on local CPR training sessions.
