Jackson Township to Host 14th Annual Wounded Warrior Escort Parade

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Each year, hundreds of Jackson Township residents line up around the Jackson Justice Complex as wounded American soldiers, sailors, and Marines are honored before heading out for a day of recognition, camaraderie, and fun at the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club.

This year marks the 14th annual parade, a tradition that began with Jackson Mayor Michael Reina and various local civic groups in 2008 to honor those who left part of themselves, whether physically, mentally or emotionally, on the battlefields in foreign lands.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, October 8th at 9:30 am. Residents can park their vehicles in safe locations along Stump Tavern Road and West Veterans Highway to cheer on their local war heroes.

“The warriors will be escorted by the Jackson Township Police Department, Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Companies, Jackson Township First Aid Squad, motorcycle groups, as well as many other grateful individuals volunteering to show support for these brave soldiers,” Mayor Reina said. “The escort should leave the Justice Complex around 9:30 am.”

After the parade, the veterans will be treated to an all-day private event hosted at the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club.

“The freedoms we enjoy as Americans have been purchased and maintained at a high price throughout our history. We owe a great debt to those who have served in defense of our nation. For many, their sacrifice has ended in permanent injury,” Reina added. “It has been a true honor to ride alongside these heroes each year as we escort them. Showing your support will only take a few minutes out of your day but will provide a lasting memory for these heroes.”

Any Wounded Warriors who are interested in attending should email Al Dolce at njgunfun@gmail.com. Mayor Reina is asking everyone to help make this a memorable day for all the Wounded Warriors by having as many people as possible participate by lining up along the route between the Justice Complex and the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Range.
