Jealous ex crashes into new boyfriend’s world in violent stabbing confrontation

LAREDO, TX – A 20-year-old man was arrested after allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend during a confrontation early Friday morning. Christian Fonseca is accused of causing a scene outside the victim’s residence and subsequently assaulting him.

At approximately 1:48 a.m. on Friday, Fonseca arrived at his ex-girlfriend’s home in the 100 block of St. Pierre Lane, reportedly jumping on the hood of her current boyfriend’s vehicle. The incident prompted the new boyfriend to exit the residence to address the situation, which escalated quickly.

Witnesses said Fonseca attempted to force his way into the home while the woman remained inside. According to police reports, an altercation broke out between the two men.

During the scuffle, Fonseca allegedly stabbed the new boyfriend. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and sought help. Shortly thereafter, police were alerted by the ex-girlfriend, leading to Fonseca’s apprehension several houses away.

The Laredo Morning Times noted that Fonseca was under a criminal trespass warning due to previous harassment complaints. Court records indicate his prior arrest in August for resisting arrest and criminal trespass, from which he was released on bond.

Fonseca faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident. He remained incarcerated without bond as of Sunday.

Police have not disclosed whether the former relationship influenced his actions on that day.
