Juvenile Among Two Charged in Triple Shooting in Asbury Park

FREEHOLD, NJ – Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago revealed that an adult and a juvenile were charged following a triple shooting in Asbury Park that resulted in one fatality and two injuries. Michael Sally, 19, from Long Branch faces multiple charges including first-degree murder.

On the evening of Monday, July 3, 2023, at around 10:30 PM, Asbury Park police responded to a shooting at the Asbury Park Gardens on Atlantic Avenue. The incident left Lativity Lyons, 21, dead and two others injured. The victims were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where Lyons was declared dead at 10:50 PM.

Investigators traced the attack back to Sally and a juvenile, whose name has been withheld. The charges against the juvenile mirror those against Sally. Authorities apprehended Sally on Wednesday in Long Branch with assistance from local and federal agencies.

The juvenile suspect is currently detained at a juvenile center on separate charges. The investigation continues, and authorities are appealing to the public for any additional information.

Officials request anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact Detective Brian Migliorisi at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office or Detective Robert Champouillon of the Asbury Park Police.
