Store robbery ends with two teens arrested after late-night scare on Benning Road

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A late-night robbery at a Southeast store quickly unraveled after two suspects fled the scene — only to be caught nearby moments later.

The incident happened around 12:27 a.m. on Sunday, March 29 in the 5000 block of Benning Road Southeast.

According to officials, two suspects entered the business and implied they were armed while demanding money and merchandise.

After taking property from the store, the suspects ran from the scene.

But the escape didn’t last long.

Officers responding to the call located both suspects in the area and took them into custody.

During the arrest, one of the suspects was found carrying a paintball gun.

A 16-year-old male from Northeast and a 13-year-old male from Oxon Hill, Maryland, were both charged with robbery.

The older juvenile also faces an additional charge of making threats to kidnap and injure a person.
