Music fight turns violent as man accused of stabbing brother faces attempted homicide charge

Caernarvon Township, PA – A dispute over loud music inside a home escalated into a violent confrontation that left a man wounded and another facing attempted homicide charges after authorities say the argument spiraled into a stabbing and assault.

Jace Allen Hatton, 21, waived his preliminary hearing on April 14 before Judge Raymond Sheller, sending the case to Lancaster County Court, according to court records.

Hatton is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment, criminal mischief, possession of an instrument of crime, tampering with evidence, terroristic threats and institutional vandalism.

The incident occurred the morning of March 20 at a residence in the 400 block of Shirktown Road. According to investigators, an argument between Hatton and the victim over the volume of music continued throughout the morning before turning physical.

The victim told investigators Hatton grabbed a kitchen knife and chased him through the residence. During the struggle, the victim fell to the ground, where Hatton allegedly stabbed and cut him multiple times, while also kicking and stomping on his head.

The victim sustained a puncture wound to the leg requiring medical treatment, cuts to the elbow that required stitches, and abrasions to multiple parts of his body, including his head, hands, arms, shoulder and foot.

A witness contacted authorities shortly before 11:30 a.m., reporting that Hatton was intoxicated and chasing the victim. Responding officers found a large pool of blood inside the residence and damage to the walls, including two holes. The damage was estimated at more than $500.

Investigators allege Hatton later told police he wiped blood from the knife after the stabbing. Following his arrest, he allegedly made statements indicating intent to kill the victim.

While in custody, Hatton is accused of spitting on the floor, punching a wall and kicking a computer station used for processing individuals.

Hatton remains held at Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $300,000 bail. The case will be prosecuted by the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office.

All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
