Bat wielding suspect detained after robbery report
Allentown, PA — An early morning robbery in a city park led to a quick arrest after officers located a suspect allegedly armed with a baseball bat and in possession of stolen cash.
The incident occurred around 4:26 a.m. Wednesday near North Fifth and Linden streets, according to the Allentown Police Department.
Investigators said the victim reported being robbed of U.S. currency in the Arts Park by a male suspect wielding a baseball bat.
Responding officers, working with Lehigh County 911, located and detained a suspect matching the description. Police said the individual was found carrying a baseball bat along with the reported currency.
Ray Fields, 46, of Allentown, has been charged with felony robbery, along with misdemeanor counts of simple assault, receiving stolen property, theft by unlawful taking, and disorderly conduct.
Officials noted that all charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
