Baltimore man dies after apartment shooting on Cole Street homicide detectives say

BALTIMORE, MD — A shooting investigation in Southwest Baltimore turned into a homicide case after a 31-year-old man died from a gunshot wound suffered inside an apartment, police said.

Officers responded Tuesday, May 5, at about 1:12 p.m. to the 1600 block of Cole Street for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived, investigators said they located a 31-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.

Police said the victim was found unresponsive inside an apartment in the 400 block of South Gilmore Street.

The man was transported to an area hospital for emergency treatment.

Due to the severity of the injuries, homicide detectives were called to the scene and later upgraded the investigation after the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.
