A man was attacked and slashed with a sharp instrument on a Manhattan street, and police are now asking the public to help identify the suspect.

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing in Upper Manhattan.

According to the NYPD, the assault occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on May 31 in front of 612 West 178th Street within the confines of the 33rd Precinct.

Investigators said a 34-year-old man was approached by an unidentified individual who displayed a sharp instrument before slashing the victim in the back.

Police have not released additional information about the victim’s condition or a possible motive for the attack.

The investigation remains ongoing.
