HARLEM, NEW YORK — A 33-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Harlem early Saturday morning in what police are investigating as a homicide, authorities said.
Officers from the 32nd Precinct responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress at approximately 5:27 a.m. near 2640 8th Avenue. When they arrived, they discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds to his back.
Emergency Medical Services transported the man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Harlem, where he was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. Investigators remained on the scene for several hours as part of the ongoing investigation.
A spokesperson for the NYPD confirmed the details, stating, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 33-year-old male with multiple stab wounds to the back.”
Investigation continues as police seek suspect
The location of the incident is a residential area along the 8th Avenue corridor, not far from public transit and neighborhood retail. Police canvassed the surrounding blocks for witnesses or surveillance footage that may assist in identifying the attacker.
No motive has been released, and it remains unclear whether the victim and perpetrator knew each other. Detectives have urged anyone with information to come forward.
As of Saturday evening, the NYPD had not released further updates. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death following an autopsy.
The fatal stabbing marks the latest in a series of violent incidents reported in Manhattan this spring, with homicide investigations now underway in several precincts.
