The search took place March 17 at a residence on 7th Avenue, where the North Tonawanda Police Department assisted the Niagara Falls Police Department Criminal Investigation Division. The T-N-T SWAT team secured the home before detectives conducted the search under court authorization.
Firearm recovered in juvenile’s bedroom
During the search, investigators reported locating a loaded handgun along with a loaded extended magazine inside a bedroom identified as belonging to the juvenile suspect. Authorities said the teen was the subject of the Niagara Falls Police Department’s investigation.
The juvenile has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a Class D felony.
Teen remanded to juvenile detention facility
Following the arrest, the teen was processed and appeared in Niagara County Family Court Youth Part. A judge ordered the suspect held at the Erie County Juvenile Detention Center with bail set at $10,000.
Officials said the suspect’s name is being withheld due to age. Police also noted the juvenile is not currently attending schools within North Tonawanda.
The investigation remains ongoing.
