Maryland State Police Request Help Locating Fugitive Murder Suspect

SALISBURY, MD – Maryland State Police are actively seeking public assistance in the search for a suspect involved in a fatal shooting in Wicomico County last month. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Fernando Medina-Moreta of Seaford, Delaware, is wanted in connection with the murder of 23-year-old Franklin Abraham Perez Rodriguez from Miami, Florida.

The incident occurred in the early hours of June 9, around 2:30 AM, when Salisbury Police officers were called to the 700 block of E. Naylor Mill Road due to a reported shooting. Preliminary findings suggest that a physical altercation took place between Rodriguez and Medina-Moreta, during which Medina-Moreta allegedly drew a firearm and shot Rodriguez. Following the shooting, Medina-Moreta fled the scene.

Rodriguez was subsequently rushed to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation, initially handled by Salisbury Police, has been transferred to Maryland State Police homicide detectives. Medina-Moreta is considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding Medina-Moreta’s whereabouts to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation and to help bring justice for the victim.
