7-Eleven targeted in overnight Wilmington robbery
Wilmington, DE – Just before dawn broke Tuesday morning, a lone gunman stormed into a Wilmington 7-Eleven and made off with cash and cigarettes after a tense standoff with the store clerk, Delaware State Police said.
The robbery unfolded around 2:40 a.m. at the convenience store on 2100 Foulk Road, when a masked suspect walked in, pulled a gun on the employee behind the counter, and demanded money. According to investigators, the clerk refused to comply, prompting the man to grab what he could from the register himself before fleeing with cigarettes in hand.
No injuries were reported, but the suspect vanished into the night before responding troopers arrived. A search of the surrounding area turned up nothing.
The suspect is described as a male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, gloves, a light-colored backpack, and a face mask. Surveillance footage has not yet been released as the investigation continues.
Detectives from the Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit are leading the case and are asking for tips from the public that could help track down the suspect.
