Philadelphia player wins $1 million Powerball ticket sold at Wawa
Philadelphia, PA – A $1 million Powerball ticket sold at a Philadelphia Wawa is now among the top prize winners in the latest drawing as the multi-state jackpot soars past $700 million.
The ticket was sold at Wawa, located at 9101 Frankford Avenue, and matched five white balls — 7, 8, 15, 19, and 28 — in the Wednesday, November 26 Powerball drawing. It missed only the red Powerball, number 3, to fall just short of the $740 million jackpot, which remains up for grabs in tonight’s drawing.
The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. The prize is subject to standard federal and state tax withholdings.
As of Monday, the winning player had not yet come forward. Pennsylvania Lottery officials remind all players to sign the back of their tickets and file claims promptly. Winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.
The Pennsylvania Lottery reports that more than 50,300 other tickets in the state also won prizes in the same drawing, including more than 11,000 with Power Play and over 5,500 with Double Play options.
The current Powerball jackpot has now grown to an estimated annuity value of $740 million, with a cash option of $346.1 million for tonight’s drawing.
