Months after woman found dismembered in trash bags in Brooklyn police rule homicide

QUEENS, N.Y. – Police have identified the human remains discovered this summer near the Jackie Robinson Parkway as belonging to 27-year-old Christina G. Purdie of Brooklyn, as investigators continue to probe the case now ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Authorities said skeletal remains were found on August 6 around 10:33 a.m. by Department of Transportation workers near Exit 1 westbound of the Jackie Robinson Parkway, within the confines of the 104th Precinct. The remains were recovered from a grassy area adjacent to the roadway.

The victim was initially described as a woman between 20 and 30 years old, possibly Black or Hispanic, approximately 4 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 2 inches tall, with dark brown curly hair with bleached ends and a rose tattoo on her upper left buttock.

On November 4, the medical examiner’s office determined the cause of death to be homicide. The victim has since been identified as Christina G. Purdie, 27, of 1 Kenilworth Place in Brooklyn.

Detectives from the NYPD are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Purdie’s death. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit information confidentially at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org.
