These fraudsters are manipulating caller IDs to appear as if calls are coming from the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, using real names of officers to enhance the credibility of their demands.
Victims are threatened with immediate arrest unless they deliver money, specifically in the form of bitcoin. The police have issued a warning advising residents never to provide sensitive personal information, money, or access to their assets to anyone unknown.
