Motorcycle crash in Manchester sends two to hospital

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. – A motorcyclist and a driver were injured Saturday evening after a collision at County Route 571 and Ridgeway Boulevard, police said.

The crash happened around 5:37 p.m. when a 2016 Indian Chief motorcycle heading west on Route 571 struck a 2013 Honda CRV that entered the intersection from Ridgeway Boulevard. The impact threw the motorcyclist from the bike and left both vehicles with major damage.

Two drivers injured

Police identified the Honda driver as 70-year-old Lizzie Richardson of Manchester and the motorcyclist as 59-year-old Erik Palmblad of Toms River. Both were taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River with non-life-threatening injuries.

Emergency crews from Ridgeway and Manchester fire departments, EMS, and Robert Wood Johnson paramedics assisted at the scene.

Investigation continues

Police said preliminary findings suggest the Honda failed to stop or yield before entering the intersection. The crash remains under investigation by Ptl. Jesse Hoydis of the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
