Myrtle Beach, S.C. — A motorcycle crash Friday night left one person with life-threatening injuries and forced the closure of a major Myrtle Beach roadway as police investigated the collision.

Myrtle Beach Police officers responded around 8:10 p.m. to the area of 29th Avenue North and Carriage Row Lane after reports of a crash involving a motorcycle.

Two people were transported to the hospital following the collision, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Authorities said one victim suffered life-threatening injuries, while the second person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Major roadway shut down during investigation

Following the crash, police closed 29th Avenue North in both directions between Robert Grissom Parkway and Hollywood Drive.

The closure affected traffic through one of Myrtle Beach’s busy east-west corridors Friday evening as investigators worked at the scene.

Motorists were advised to expect delays and use alternate routes while officers examined the crash site and crews worked to clear the roadway.

Police urge drivers to slow down

The Myrtle Beach Police Department asked drivers to use caution in the area as emergency responders remained on scene.
