Bronx, N.Y. — Police are searching for two suspects accused of robbing a 68-year-old man in the Bronx after allegedly pretending to have firearms before stealing jewelry from him in broad daylight.
The robbery happened around 2:30 p.m. Monday near Barker Avenue and Magenta Street within the NYPD’s 47th Precinct, according to NYPD Crimestoppers.
Investigators said the suspects approached the victim and engaged him in conversation before escalating the encounter. Police said the pair simulated possessing firearms and forcibly removed two necklaces from the victim’s neck.

The suspects then fled northbound on Barker Avenue toward Duncomb Avenue on foot, authorities said.

The NYPD released photos of the two unidentified individuals as detectives work to identify and locate them.
Authorities did not immediately release details about the value of the stolen necklaces or whether the victim suffered injuries during the robbery.
The incident occurred in a residential section of the northeast Bronx during the afternoon, a time when pedestrian traffic is typically active in the area.
