LAKEWOOD, N.J. — A two-alarm fire tore through a multi-unit residential building Tuesday morning, displacing more than a dozen residents in Lakewood, authorities said.

The Lakewood Fire Department responded around 8:05 a.m. to 2012 Hickory Court, where arriving crews encountered heavy flames in a three-story apartment complex. Firefighters reached the scene in under six minutes.

A total of 12 fire companies, including approximately 50 firefighters and 30 support personnel, were dispatched. The fire was brought under control within two hours. Officials said the blaze caused significant damage to two units, while six additional units sustained smoke and water damage.

Thirteen people were displaced, though no injuries were reported.

The Ocean County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
