MOUNT HOLLY, NJ – The treasurer of a labor union representing firefighters and emergency medical technicians in Burlington County has been charged with stealing nearly $10,000 from the organization, prosecutors announced.

Joseph Tull Jr., 38, of Williamstown, was charged with computer criminal activity, theft by deception, and misapplication of entrusted property following an investigation by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office (BCPO) Financial Crimes Unit.

Authorities say the investigation began in January after union leaders reported bookkeeping irregularities. Investigators determined that Tull used the union’s debit card to withdraw $6,300 from ATMs, which he then deposited into his personal bank account. Additionally, he allegedly made $3,384 in unauthorized purchases at businesses including Jersey Mike’s, Rita’s Italian Ice, and Wawa.

Tull, a full-time firefighter in Cinnaminson Township, was taken into custody on Monday at the BCPO office in Mount Holly and later released after processing. The case is now being prepared for presentation to a grand jury for possible indictment.

The union, known as the Burlington County Professional Firefighters Association Local 3091, represents career firefighters, fire officers, fire marshals, and EMTs in multiple Burlington County municipalities.

Assistant Prosecutor Andrew R. McDonnell is leading the case, with Detective Troy Sudeck serving as the lead investigator.
