New Jersey Politician Indicted for Drug Trafficking

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson announced that on Thursday, a Hunterdon County Grand Jury indicted Malik D. Johnston, an elected member of the Flemington Borough Town Council. Johnston, also known as Pippin J. Folk, is charged with several counts related to possession, distribution, and intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances.

The 46-year-old Flemington resident faces two counts each of third-degree possession of cocaine and methamphetamine, second-degree distribution of cocaine and methamphetamine, and second-degree possession with intent to distribute cocaine and methamphetamine.

The charges were brought about following a joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Narcotics Task Force and the Flemington Borough Police Department.

The indictment alleges that on several dates in January and February of this year, Johnston sold significant amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine to an undercover police officer. Further inquiries led to the discovery of more drugs intended for distribution in Johnston’s possession.
