New York City Squatter Facing Criminal Charges After Falsifying Documents

Queens, NY – Lance White-Haunt, 24, was charged with burglary, identity theft, and other offenses for unlawfully occupying a home in Jamaica. District Attorney Melinda Katz emphasized the strict stance against illegal occupancy fueled by false documentation and legal abuse.

White-Haunt was arraigned on an 18-count indictment following the unfounded occupancy incident, facing up to 15 years in prison. The defendant, who resided in Brooklyn, engaged in criminal activities to establish false tenancy in the residence.

The charges stemmed from White-Haunt’s attempt to claim residency in a home through fraudulent means. According to provided data, the rightful owner and broker at Top Nest Properties refuted the legitimacy of documents involved in the case. Investigations led to White-Haunt’s arrest supported by NYPD’s resources.

The legal proceedings, led by Assistant District Attorney Rachel Stein, are underway under the supervision of State Judicial officials. District Attorney Katz assured the community of efforts to clamp down on housing-related crimes to maintain order and prevent exploitation in Queens.
