NEWARK, NJ — A 55-year-old Newark man wanted in connection with multiple auto burglaries and acts of criminal mischief was arrested last week, according to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr.

Fernando Pinero was taken into custody on Friday, January 24, near Magazine Street and Rome Street. Police allege that Pinero was responsible for three incidents between January 15 and January 17, involving shattered vehicle windows and the theft of tools.

The first incident occurred on Wednesday, January 15, near Magazine Street and Ferry Street, where a black 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan’s rear window was shattered, and four hand grinder machines were stolen.

The second incident was reported on Van Buren Street, where a 2017 Chevy Express Van’s driver-side window was broken sometime between January 16 and January 17. The victim reported the theft of several plumbing tools.

In the third incident, which occurred on Madison Street near Ferry Street, the rear and passenger windows of a 2015 GMC Savana were shattered overnight. No items were reported stolen in that case.

Pinero now faces multiple charges, including burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. Detectives from the Newark Police Department identified Pinero during their investigation, leading to his arrest.
