STAFFORD COUNTY, VA — A newborn baby discovered alone near a small Stafford County park Tuesday afternoon is now safe as deputies urgently work to identify and locate the child’s parents.

The infant was found May 12 near the area of Embrey Mill Road and Coriander Lane overlooking Embrey Mill Road, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said an alert citizen located the newborn and immediately contacted emergency responders.

The baby was safely taken into care and is currently receiving medical attention and support from healthcare professionals, officials said.

Investigators are now focused on locating the child’s mother and father, saying their primary concern is the well-being of the parents and ensuring they receive care, support and assistance.

As part of the investigation, deputies are asking nearby residents and businesses to review security and doorbell camera footage recorded between noon and 3:10 p.m. on May 12.

Authorities are also asking anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area during that timeframe to come forward.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said community assistance could help reunite the family and ensure everyone involved receives appropriate support services.
