TOMS RIVER, NJ — Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity has been awarded a $50,000 grant from Lowe’s to support critical home repair projects for five homes in northern Ocean County, the organization announced.

The grant is aimed at improving the safety, functionality, and sustainability of homes, while fostering stronger communities, according to the group. Repairs funded by the grant include tub-to-shower conversions, window replacements, and the installation of a thermoplastic olefin (TPO) roof.

One beneficiary, a Jackson resident identified as Tracy, received significant upgrades to her home, including a new TPO roof, 14 energy-efficient windows, a rebuilt front porch, and a new back door. “All of these repairs have improved my life tremendously. I feel like I hit the lottery,” she said, crediting the organization’s staff and volunteers.

Kristine Novakowski, executive director of Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity, expressed gratitude for the support. “This grant allows us to address critical repairs that make homes safer and more sustainable. Together, we are making a lasting impact on the communities we serve,” she said in a statement.

The grant is part of Lowe’s ongoing $6 million commitment to Habitat for Humanity International, which aims to fund 295 projects across the U.S. this year and impact nearly 700 families.

With critical repairs underway, Lowe’s partnership helps transform lives and rebuild communities in Ocean County.
