Overnight fire destroys Gloucester Township apartment leasing office, cause deemed suspicious

January 10, 2026

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Authorities are investigating a suspicious early morning fire that destroyed the leasing and management office at the Lakeview Apartments complex on Saturday.

According to the Gloucester Township Police Department, officers and firefighters responded to the scene around 2:26 a.m. after a combination fire and burglar alarm was triggered at the office. Fire crews from the Chews Landing Fire Department arrived to find heavy flames engulfing the structure and quickly called for a second alarm.

Multiple fire companies from across Camden County—including Blackwood, Blenheim, Glendora, Magnolia, Bellmawr, and Cherry Hill—assisted in the response. Police closed portions of Lakeview Drive and Pine Run while firefighters worked to contain the blaze. The fire was brought under control by 3:42 a.m., with crews remaining on scene until nearly 6 a.m. to extinguish hotspots.

Officials said no injuries were reported, and the flames did not spread to nearby apartment buildings. The leasing office, however, was completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is considered suspicious. Detectives from the Gloucester Township Police Department are working with the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety, the Camden County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Chews Landing Fire Marshal, and the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the fire is urged to contact Gloucester Township Police at (856) 228-4500 or submit an anonymous tip at gtpolice.com/tips.
