Pennsylvania lottery ticket turns into a $500K windfall

One Pennsylvania Lottery player is holding a ticket worth half a million dollars after matching five numbers in a Powerball Double Play drawing

NAZARETH, Pa. — A Powerball player in Northampton County is sitting on a $500K prize after a winning ticket was sold at a Nazareth retailer for Saturday’s drawing.

The Pennsylvania Lottery announced that a Powerball with Double Play ticket worth $500,000 was sold at Broad Street Mini Mart, located at 7 South Broad St. in Nazareth Borough.

The winning ticket matched all five Double Play numbers drawn — 3, 18, 26, 52 and 54 — but did not match the Double Play Powerball number 8.

Broad Street Mini Mart will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Lottery officials noted that winners are not known until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated.

Powerball winners in Pennsylvania have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes.

Double Play is an optional Powerball feature that gives players a second chance to win using the same numbers in a separate drawing held after each Powerball drawing.

More than 27,300 Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball tickets won prizes of various amounts in the June 6 drawing.
